Waterfront on the Annisquam River in Gloucester, this exceptional vacation rental boasts wonderful views of the river and of Ipswich Bay. You will never forget the sunsets seen from the deck or from the delightful gazebo.

This home has a custom kitchen, spacious open concept living/dining room and lots of windows. There are two large bedroom suites with full baths on two separate floors as well as a sleeper sofa in the living room. There are water views from just about every window. Multiple deck and terraced patios overlook the water and the beautiful grounds, with perennials and a gazebo for outdoor dining on those soft balmy evenings.

The historic village of Annisquam is less than a mile away. Downtown Gloucester with its great restaurants and seafaring treasures is four miles in one direction and Rockport and Bearskin Neck and the Shalin Liu Performance Center are just five miles in the other direction where you can easily explore many of the local shops and restaurants that the area has to offer.

There is off-street parking in the driveway for 2 cars.

What does my rented vacation home provide?


Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.


  • The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.

  • Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.

  • The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.

  • Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.

  • Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.

Guests will also receive a “Welcome Kit” that contains:

We very much enjoyed our stay at Sunset Cove. The cove is beautiful and peaceful. The gazebo is very quaint. The home is very comfy and immaculately clean. The kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, bakeware, utensils. There is a nice selection of books and some puzzles. The layout of the home is very nice for families/couples, allowing privacy with bedrooms and bathrooms. The two main bathrooms were very nice, with large showers. The upper floor bathroom had a soaking tub. There were plenty of towels. There were soap/shampoo/conditioner products but I was unfamiliar with the brand. There was even fragrance free laundry pods and dishwasher pods. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

Lovely as Ever

Having loved this house in 2022 I rented it again in 2023. It’s as beautiful as ever, and we loved the views over the Annisquam River. The downstairs suite was great for my son, and when my daughter made a surprise 24-hour visit, she happily climbed the ladder into the upstairs loft at bedtime and was very comfortable. We had a couple of questions for AVH which were answered promptly. Looking forward to returning in 2024!

Marvelous Place, Beautiful Location

A first-class home in a beautiful spot overlooking the Annisquam River. I enjoy cooking on vacation and was impressed by how fully furnished the kitchen was. Every tool you could want. The veranda outside is perfect for enjoying the river. A few hundred yards north is the footbridge to the village of Annisquam, a delightful walk. We were ten minutes by car from Main Street Gloucester. My only caution: there are about a dozen fairly steep and winding stairs up to the upper level bedroom and down to the lower level bedroom, only partially hand-railed. I navigated these with great care given my creaky knees. However, the house and the location are so pleasant that I would stay here again without hesitation. I also thought that AVH did a great job of communicating with us, sharing key information, providing a few necessaries to save us trouble on shopping, and so forth.

Absolutely Breathtaking!

I am from MA. but moved to California over 30 years ago. I go back frequently to visit friends and family. My mother passed away and wanted her celebration of life to be back in MA. We decided to have it near the ocean because that is her favorite place to be. We had the celebration of life at the Elks in Gloucester and decided to stay in Gloucester vs. Burlington where we typically stay to be close to family. This spot was PERFECT for my husband daughter and I. Views from every room - huge yard area and equipped with everything you need. We will definitely stay here again. The BBQ is very small and doesn't get very hot so I wouldn't recommend depending on the grill for a large meal but overall perfect spot!

Breathtaking Sunsets

We enjoyed staying at this rental property. We had a few issues where we contacted the property manager and he was very efficient responding to us and getting our issue resolved. View was amazing. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. All the fans were greatly appreciated since the temperatures were hotter than normal. Sunsets from the gazebo were breathtaking. Only drawback was that since it was on a main road, you could constantly hear the traffic and backing out of the driveway was difficult. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing stay at Sunset Cove!

Absolutely loved the location and spaces that the home provided! Access to water is right there for low tide walks and paddleboarding (rental company will drop off boats at unit) during high tide. Amazing sunset views. Walkable to coffee shop and a restaurant or 2. Well stocked unit with books and puzzles, kitchen, and laundry. Shower with steam function and multiple shower heads! Friendly and helpful neighbors. Loved this place!

Sunset Cove

The views from the living room and both bedrooms are spectacular! The sunsets are amazing!!! We didn\'t realize the property is tri-level, but easy to manage. The kitchen is extremely well stocked and has everything you could want or need. We had one issue and Atlantic Vacation Homes was both responsive and helpful! It is a challenge parking and getting out onto the main street; however, people were most considerate in stopping to allow us access. It is a lovely property!!!

Thanksgiving 2021

This property was great! Beautiful location, appropriate amenities. Recommended adding additional towel rods for downstairs bathroom to accommodate two adults. Was able to cook decent meals with kitchen supplies available. Would love to come back in the spring or summer to really experience the outdoor space! Thanks for a great stay 🙂

A Perfect Retreat Any Time of Year

Sunset Cove was the perfect retreat. The floor plan is open and rooms are spacious. The bedrooms also have beautiful water views and the two master bathrooms were much nicer than I expected. It was perfect for entertaining and I especially enjoyed the ability to launch my kayak right from the property. Everything was meticulously maintained and the sunsets were breathtaking.

Beautiful waterfront home

Sunset Cove is a lovely place to sit back and enjoy the views. The home was stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. The furniture was high quality and very comfortable. Excellent views from every room. Perfect location near Willows Rest, great place to pick up gourmet groceries or delicious prepared foods. Highly recommend!

Very Nice.

We had a wonderful time. The view from the back deck in the morning and late evening was wonderful. Kitchen was well stocked. The store on Washington Street had great lunch items. We got in a little early, but the cleaner/realty woman was professional and worked with us. Thanks.
