Pleasant House has been beautifully renovated, retaining its old-world charm that features 14-foot ceilings, large windows, and big rooms. Modern updates include updated baths, windows, refinished hardwood floors, walls, and woodwork.

The house is perfectly situated just a short walk to Rockport Harbor, two beaches, restaurants, galleries, shops, and the world-renowned Shalin Liu Performing Arts Center. This is the spacious and perfectly located Rockport vacation home you have been looking for.

Pleasant House in Rockport has two living areas -- a family room with a large flat-screen Smart TV (with a complimentary Netflix account) and plenty of comfy seating, and a living room with large windows and a sectional sofa. The formal dining room seats at least 10, and the large eat-in kitchen has a large butcher block center island, fine Silestone counters, a dishwasher, and a washer & dryer. Off of the kitchen is a sunny, air-conditioned guest suite with a queen bed and ensuite full bath with shower. Also accessible from the kitchen is one of the best features of the house -- a huge screened porch that serves as another living area, game area and shady place to eat and relax.

To get to the second floor, you have your choice of two staircases – the formal and gorgeous antique spiral, or the back stairs from the kitchen. Upstairs are 3 more air-conditioned bedrooms, all with connecting full baths.

Pleasant House offers plenty of room for family and guests to spread out inside and out in the verdant yard and gardens.

There is off-street parking for 2 cars with plenty more available on the street.

What does my rented vacation home provide?


Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.


  • The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.

  • Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.

  • The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.

  • Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.

  • Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.

Wonderful Home in Rockport

What an amazing house and perfect for our needs. We were a family of 6 - grandparents, parents, teenage daughters. Everyone had their own room and bathroom, which was perfect. The house is well located so you can easily walk to town, go on hikes, go to the beach, etc. We entertained friends and family each night and again, the house set up was perfect! We would start with drinks outside around the table. Then move to dinner in the dining room (long dining table, plenty of space), and end with scrabble and dessert in the screened in porch. Again, perfect set up and perfect public and private spaces. Loved it!

Rockport Gem

This building fit the needs for our adult family. Those who needed to work had a comfortable place to set up their computers. The family enjoyed making group dinners and the kitchen and dining room were set up to accomplish our daily meals together. The bedrooms and bathrooms were able to accommodate everyone comfortably. The place was clean and easy to care for during the week. We hope to return again soon.

Very comfortable, space works so well

Pleasant House lives up to its name. It is one of the nicest, if not the nicest, places we have rented. The space feels larger than it looks in the pictures. We had three couples, two children and a baby in our group and we all had our own space. The living areas are very comfortable and well appointed. The screen porch is fantastic for visits and the kitchen is spacious and well appointed. Even the outdoor area is great. Easy walking distance to just about everything in town - location really is fantastic.

Great location, great house with a yard for the kids and very walkable to Rockport. Only issue we had was being able to contact a local rep for the property as we had some questions when we first arrived and struggled to get a response. Once we did connect, they were very helpful with us. Would definitely come back!

Back to ahhhh

The house was large and eclectic but comfy. Close walk to some of our favorite places. Very quick walk to the beach. Gloucester/Rockport is our favorite place to relax and vacation. We have been coming here for 40+ years as well as our children and now their families. We have been renting through AVH for most our vacations and could not be more pleased with their customer service. Very easy to get a hold of and always pleasant.

Great stay

We go to Rockport every summer and have rented this house twice now. We've done it with three families and multiple kids and couples and the house works really well for this as it is large and has a great layout. Bedrooms and baths are well spaced out and as others have noted there is a ton of public space both inside and out. This year there were new yard chairs that were great and the driveway was was widened making it far easier to use. The neighbors (both residential and the inn next door) are really nice and welcoming. The house is really well located and it is super easy to walk to the beach and town.

Very Pleasant Indeed

We have stayed at a number of vacation rentals on Cape Ann, and this was the most well-appointed house yet. The kitchen was well-stocked with enough cutlery, plates, serving dishes, etc. The dining room was large with seats for everyone (10). There were hampers in every room, along with enough soap, and towels--everything you need. I dwell on this because it is unusual. Now to the house itself. It is quite large and beautiful,and the photos do not do it justice. There is a tremendous amount of common space, with a large, comfortable screened-in porch that we used all the time. It is a short walk to downtown Rockport, and there are two or three beaches also in walking distance: Old Garden, and Front/Back Beach. The rooms were comfortable with shades on every window. Everything was very clean. There is also a nice large grill. The only downside, as a mom with young children, was keeping my crazy 22 month old from going flying down the hill and into the street (which he did). But that is no fault of the house or its owner.

Pleasant House

We have vacationed in Rockport several times before and have loved it--tis was no exception. The house is very large and we actually did not need all the downstairs rooms. Most of our indoor time was spent in the kitchen and dining room and the back porch. We are a three-generation family and the house was roomy enough for all. The walk to beach and town was downhill and that meant a climb on the return. The neighborhood was quiet and pleasant.

Pleasant House Appropriately Named

We had a terrific experience in the Pleasant House in Rockport. The location is a beautiful and relatively short walk to the downtown area, and the house itself is a perfect layout. We had several people in the space, of different generations, and it is possible for many different things to be going on in the house at the same time. Young kids don't necessarily wake up people who want to sleep in, people who want to stay up later in the evening don't wake up early to bed types. The kitchen is wonderful, and the dining room table seats ten very comfortably. Those two rooms became a focal point for our activities. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Cape Ann Family Wedding Trip

We had a total of ten family members (7 adults, 3 kids) fly in from California for a wedding. The Pleasant House was perfect! Plenty of space to spread out, with 4 bathrooms and showers we could all get ready easily, a large kitchen, and lovely screened porches for kids to play and hang out. The home was clean and had everything we needed. There were even towels, an umbrella, and a cooler for a day at the beach. The kids enjoyed the beach toys on our day at Good Harbor Beach. It was great to be walking distance to town especially on a holiday weekend. One minor repair was quickly taken care of by maintenance. We will definitely consider coming back!

Beautiful and soooo spacious!

This house is BEAUTIFUL, inside and outside!!! The pictures do not do it justice. It is much more spacious than we expected. Furniture was great, accommodated a group of 10 with room to spare. Everyone could find a quiet space or gather together in one room comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped for any type of cooking or baking. It was a nice to have a washer and dryer especially after a day at the beach. The screened in porch was such a pleasant place to cool off at night. The location was perfect-a short walk to town, a town with great shops and restaurants. So many great touches too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return again.

We were very happy with our week-long stay at Pleasant House. Lots of space, very cleanly kept, old-house charm but with very modern updates. We had 4 adults and 6 kids (ages 2-13) and everyone had their own space and found lots to do. The owner keeps a little closet with games, beach toys and other amenities which we appreciated. The kitchen had pretty much anything you needed in terms of dishes and cookware (we did bring our own electric skillet). Even the spice drawer was well stocked. Towels and sheets were plentiful and very clean. Very happy with our stay!

Ideal location in downtown Rockport

I live in Rockport, and 10 family members came for a reunion, 8 staying in the rental house and 2 at the Pleasant St. Inn right next door (rave reviews). The house was perfect; plenty of space to be together, and also space to get away from the crowd. The dining room easily accommodated us all (this is hard to find) and the kitchen worked well, as we take turns cooking each night. The house has been recently restored with high quality bathrooom fixtures,good lighting, refinished floors,and contemporary colors, without loosing the charm of a Victorian house. The house is in easy walking distance of the Shalin Liu Performance Center, beach, shops, shore walks, the Art Association, and restaurants. People could come and go as they wished, without having to worry about parking. Overnight parking on Pleasant Street was easy. AVH responded immediately when we needed more flatware. We would definitely rent this house again.
