Built in the late 1800s, Mill Pond Cottage exudes a timeless elegance that transports you back to a bygone era. The moment you step inside, you’ll be captivated by its rich history and architectural details. From the hardwood floors to the crown molding, every corner is infused with character.
Despite its historic nature, this house has been thoughtfully renovated to provide all the conveniences of modern living. Air conditioning splits ensure that you stay cool during warm summer days, while still preserving the integrity of the original design. You can truly have the best of both worlds – stepping into a piece of history without compromising on comfort.
With three bedrooms (plus a sleeper sofa in the living room), there’s ample space for families or groups of friends to unwind after a day exploring Gloucester’s charming streets or nearby beaches. Each bedroom has been lovingly decorated with a mix of antique furnishings and contemporary touches, creating a cozy atmosphere where you can retreat and recharge.
Located just minutes away from Gloucester’s vibrant downtown area, this vacation rental provides easy access to local attractions, shops, and restaurants. Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventures along Cape Ann’s scenic coastline or immersing yourself in Gloucester’s rich maritime history, there’s something for everyone here.
There is no swimming allowed from the property, though there is water and kayak access at several points nearby. No pets. No smoking. No events or parties.
What does my rented vacation home provide?
Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.
- The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.
- Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.
- The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.
- Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.
- Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.
Guests will also receive a "Welcome Kit" that contains:

- One dishwasher detergent pod or packet

In addition, the complimentary items below are provided as a convenient starter supply for when you first arrive. Additional items beyond the starter supply are the responsibility of the guest.

We had a great stay here. The view of the pond was a great way to wake up. The house was very clean - we had several people with dust allergies who had no issues. It is important to be aware that the room with 2 twin beds does not have AC if you are there on a hot week.

by Anne DWe were only at Mill Pond Cottage for a weekend, but we loved it. Its such a charming place, comfortable in every way, and has wonderful views. It was close to all we came for seeing our grandparents and great grandparents homes (just down the street!), a sprint triathlon in Stage Fort Park, and a day exploring Salem. Perfect! The house was also super clean, none of the musty scent many waterside rentals have. The communications were just right too & timely and helpful and not at all intrusive. Looking forward to more wonderful stays with AVH!

Overall a great stay!
by BrittanyMill Pond Cottage was overall a great stay! The house was clean and comfortable. We had difficulty checking in initially as we weren’t sent the code at time of check in. However, we were able to get in touch with the property manager within a few minutes. Also, in the bedroom with two twin beds there is no AC. The 2 other bedrooms do have the AC units and it did get quite chilly when they were on! The beds were comfortable and there was good space to set up a pack and play for our son. Be careful during morning and evening hours with the bugs.. there are plenty of mosquitos around!

Lovely Waterside Getaway

The house cozy and very well stocked, has spectacular water views and bird watching; great proximity to all kinds of activities, dining, and sightseeing. Our host were very responsive to any questions we had. The house is filled with lovely oil paintings and antiques. We would come back!
