Situated on a knoll in Gloucester's Bay View neighborhood, Helena House offers peekaboo views of Ipswich Bay from the second floor bedroom with deck. Decorated with a European sensibility, the home is sunny, comfortable and cheerful, with hardwood floors throughout.

A Queen Anne-style house, you can access the second floor via a front staircase that leads from the living room or from the back staircase via the kitchen. The bedrooms upstairs have AC units for comfort and the separated WC and shower areas provide flexibility.

A lush and private backyard gives you a feeling of being away from it all. Outside you'll find a slate patio, hot and cold outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach.

Spend your summer vacation relaxing, discovering local fauna such as hermit crabs, and swimming to your hearts content. A short walk takes you to Hodgkins Cove where you can swim and enjoy the scenery or walk to many fishing spots and quarries for swimming. The picturesque neighborhood beach of Plum Cove is 6/10 of a mile, and a bit farther is the sweet little village of Lanesville. Annisquam and Rockport are a short drive away, making this home a convenient and comfortable Cape Ann getaway.

What does my rented vacation home provide?


Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.


  • The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.

  • Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.

  • The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.

  • Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.

  • Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.

Guests will also receive a “Welcome Kit” that contains:


  • An area guide

  • One kitchen sponge

  • One small bottle of dish soap

  • One dishwasher detergent pod or packet

  • One laundry detergent pod or packet

In addition, the complimentary items below are provided as a convenient starter supply for when you first arrive. Additional items beyond the starter supply are the responsibility of the guest.

We immediately felt at home at Helena’s House. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, the living rooms are welcoming and the kitchen is well equipped. Add an excellent location and all the ingredients of a great stay were in place. All in all, the house is larger than what the pictures suggest and will comfortably house a group of eight. We would definitely come back.

Great House

Helena House worked out perfectly for us - close to the places we wanted to be, sufficient space for our entire party, and places outside and in to relax on our own. Even the unseasonably hot weather when we arrived was manageable with air conditioning in the bedrooms.

Perfect Vacation Home

The house was so clean and lovely! I stayed there with my bridal party the nights leading up to my wedding and it was the perfect spot. It’s walking distance to the beach and it has a beautiful back yard and plenty of indoor spots to hang out. I absolutely loved it and will be back soon!

Helena House - A Perfect Getaway

This is a lovely place and we had a wonderful and enjoyable time staying here. Surrounding Annisquam and Laneville area very nice and close to Plum Cove Beach and Hodgkins Cove and their scenic views and beautiful summertime sunsets. Nearby village of Lanesville convenient for breakfast/lunch and other sundries. Would definitely come back again.

Helena House

If you like to get away for some peace and quiet, but still be within a 5-10 minute drive of the rest of the world, then this is the place. Short walk to two beautiful coves and beautiful views. Sleeps seven comfortably. Good for big families. Plenty of off street parking. Clean and well kept. Windows were a bit of a chore to open, but were functional. Only one issue during our stay - plugged shower drain, but a call to the manager and it was fixed within 1-hour while we were out to dinner.

A perfect space for our weekend getaway

This is a lovely home and we had a wonderful time staying here. Atlantic Vacation Homes was incredibly helpful and responsive, from going over to turn on a light for us (even though we requested it late on the day we were arriving) to delivering a fresh set of linens after a coffee spill. Make sure you catch a sunset at Plum Cove Beach while you're there. More information about takeout options would be great and do double-check that the air conditioning filters are clean.

Our vacation

We had wonderful weather and a wonderful vacation. The cottage was well equipped, clean and fit our needs quite well. I especially liked the balcony and the out door shower. The walk to Plum Cove beach was an easy one which was nice. I even walked to the coffee shop in Lanesville each day I was there. An added bonus was fresh garden tomatoes growing like crazy behind the garage.
