Granite Cottage, just renovated in 2025, affords plenty of peace and privacy in Pigeon Cove. With windows and doors that open onto the ocean-view deck or to a lush courtyard, there is beauty at every turn. Steps away is Little Parker Pit, a freshwater quarry for that early morning wake up swim or afternoon refresher.
From the parking area, walk up about 10 steps to its private deck with water views and enter the cottage. The open-plan living room/dining room/kitchen has cathedral ceilings and a skylight. The main living area flows past the kitchen to the Queen bedroom and a full bath with tiled shower. Mini-splits provide both cooling and heating, making the cottage comfortable all year.
In it's history, the cottage was the blacksmith's shed where where the oxen, working the nearby granite quarries, were shod. Vestiges can be seen throughout the house and in the courtyard once the floor of the oxen barn.
From the private deck, enjoy the views of Sandy Bay dotted with sailboats. Or, walk down the quiet lane to Granite Pier and experience the unsurpassed views of the sun rising over the Atlantic Ocean, and of fishing boats moored nearby. The full moon over Granite Pier is spectacular, and even locals come here to experience its glow. Just steps away at Granite Pier (about 120 yards from the house,) you can launch your kayak or SUP and explore the coastline.
What does my rented vacation home provide?
Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.
- The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.
- Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.
- The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.
- Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.
- Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.
Guests will also receive a “Welcome Kit” that contains:
- An area guide
- One kitchen sponge
- One small bottle of dish soap
- One dishwasher detergent pod or packet
- One laundry detergent pod or packet
- One trash bag
In addition, the complimentary items below are provided as a convenient starter supply for when you first arrive. Additional items beyond the starter supply are the responsibility of the guest.

What a GEM!

Granite Cottage - delightful stay!

Although I had a problem while I was there, AVH eventually came through and took care of me, which means a lot. I think their communication could be better, but the truth is this was a beautiful location and I had an incredible time.

Cozy Stay from Winter to Summer

I spent a few months here, watching two nor'esters and walking the New England beaches in summer. The little cottage is warm in the harshest winter, and cool in the wettest summer days, with everything you need: bed, kitchen and internet. Can't find better stay for a small family of two or so.

Great Rental for single or couple

I got the fortune to spend ~ 5 months in this nice cozy little cottage. The location is great: very close to the ocean, and a reasonable walking distance to the town. Great spot for storm watching in winter. It has everything you need for an extended stay, winter or summer. It is fun to have all the paintings on the walls. The bedroom is quiet after dark and before 7 am. Its living room can host additional two for short visiting. Both the managing company and the owner are kind and helpful. I wish I could return in the future.

Great Location - Perfect getaway for two!

We husband and I loved the property.....there was nothing that wasn't thought of re: amenities. Peaceful despite main road in front, property owner next door VERY helpful and unintrusive. We'd stay here again in a minute! Lovely week's stay and a short walk to downtown, shopping. Some of the furniture could use some updating in LR -& the water views that you see on website are absent with all of the trees.....but other than that! Perfect! We'd highly recommend it!

A wonderful place -- small, but it seemed spacious. On main road, but not noisy at all. Owner was very helpful, even printing out information re the museum in Salem for us. It was too chilly to enjoy the deck & yard, but it's lovely with a water view from the deck. Very easy to get around from this location. It's close to grocery, pharmacy, etc. Also, very close to downtown Rockport. The place was spotless, & the owner's art certainly added to the ambience. Everything you'd need is included, even a washer & dryer. We really enjoyed our stay, & would recommend it to friends.
The AVH staff are happy that you had such a fufilling vacation at Granite Courtyard. We hope to have you back in the near future!

Romantic Rendezvous

We could not have been more comfortable in the lovey and hospitable surroundings that the Granite Courtyard offered. The house was meticulously clean and the owner was very gracious. It was the perfect escape. A place to sit by the water, walk into Rockport, or drive to the most adorable little towns. We ate the most incredible seafood on the private deck and the kitchen was fully equipped. Just bring your clothes, great food, wine and unwind! We look forward to our next stay.

Need to trim some branches for a clearer view. Otherwise, It was a great place to stay. The owners were quite lovely and very helpful. They gave us our privacy unless we asked them to join us in a cocktail in the courtyard or on the grounds. Great paintings in the cottage. Would consider returning in the future.

Great Spot, Great Retreat

Sandy and Kay have created a cozy, comfortable, wonderful New England retreat. The house is clean, well-furnished and joyously atmospheric. Deck, yard and deck/lawn furniture are wonderful. There is much to see in Cape Ann, but we found ourselves drawn simply to stay here and read. When we did go out, it was often on foot (beautiful 10-20 minute seacoast walk to town and Bearskin Neck). The only negative: Traffic noise is definitely noticeable.
