Step back in time at Captain John Butman House, a beautifully restored colonial home. This charming Rockport Village rental blends historic character with modern comforts. It also offers a peaceful escape close to Bearskin Neck’s unique shops, local art galleries, and scenic beaches. Whether exploring the North Shore’s hiking trails, catching the commuter rail to Boston, or simply unwinding in the home’s inviting spaces, this is the perfect place to experience Rockport’s coastal charm.
The main level features an open-plan living and dining area, with a cozy sitting space and a dining table that expands to seat up to six guests. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you need for meal prep, with a door leading to the back patio and yard for outdoor dining. A separate family room with a large TV and built-in bookshelves offers a great spot to gather for movies and games. A small office provides a quiet retreat for work or reading, and the first-floor full bath includes a washer and dryer for added convenience.
Upstairs, three bedrooms comfortably accommodate guests. The primary bedroom features a king bed, while the second bedroom has a queen bed and connects to a third bedroom with twin bunk beds, making it a great setup for families. A second full bath serves the upper level.
Outside, relax on the stone patio, where Adirondack chairs overlook the backyard garden. Fire up the grill for a barbecue, or rinse off in the outdoor shower station after a day at the beach. With off-street parking for one car and everything in Rockport just a short stroll or drive away, this home is a perfect base for your coastal getaway.

What does my rented vacation home provide?
Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.
- The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.
- Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.
- The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.
- Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.
- Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.
Guests will also receive a “Welcome Kit” that contains:
- An area guide
- One kitchen sponge
- One small bottle of dish soap
- One dishwasher detergent pod or packet
- One laundry detergent pod or packet
- One trash bag
In addition, the complimentary items below are provided as a convenient starter supply for when you first arrive. Additional items beyond the starter supply are the responsibility of the guest.

The full bath has a tiled walk-in shower. The washer and dryer are also located in the first floor bathroom.
Bathroom 2
The second floor full bath has a shower/tub combo.
Living/Dining Room
Enter the rental home into the open plan living and dining area. The living space has a large couch and two chairs. The dining table comfortably seats up to four. There is a leaf to extend the table to seat 6.
Kitchen
The kitchen is fully applianced with a refrigerator, stove and oven, dishwasher, and microwave. The door opens to the back patio and yard.
Family Room
This room is the perfect for gathering to watch movies other family favorite programs on the large TV while relaxing on the large sectional sofa or a chaise lounge chair. There is also a beautiful built-in library with shelves containing books and games.
Office
There is a small office with a desk off of the living/dining room.

Our Rockport adventure
This charming house was the perfect spot for our family getaway. The house is very charming. We loved the historic nature of the property. The kitchen was great for cooking. Roomy and we'll equipped. The living spaces were very comfy and so are the bedrooms. The location was convenient to everything on Cape Ann The location is th the parking was tight but completely doable and we had a two large vehicles. A truely nostalgic feeling at the cabin by the sea. We enjoyed the view and ambiance despite some shaky weather at the beginning of our stay. If you’re not used to a more rustic setting this might not be the place for you but we were in heaven. The porch with windows open on a breezy day was our favorite way to enjoy our morning coffee. Highly recommended for a true New England Experience A few small minor things to consider updating if possible would be a new set of steak knives, an indoor folding clothes rack (we had a lot of rain and could try outside), a clothes line strung up between trees would be nice too, mattress pads on the two twins.
