Inside, a one-of-a-kind waterfront scene, hand painted along the staircase by a local artist, greets you as you enter via the formal foyer. Pick your hangout spot from two comfortable living rooms, the family room with a ping-pong table, the sun room, the cheerful kitchen, the umbrellaed patio, or the multiple decks and porches. Your family and friends will slumber pleasantly in the 6 bedrooms, including a separate au pair or in-law suite.

Set on a spacious lot with plenty of level lawn space, Bell View also boasts a tennis court. The adjacent shed is replete with all kinds of sports equipment for your use. In addition, a slate patio in front and a wrap around deck in the back are delightful spots to gather and relax.

Bell View is just a stone's throw from fabled Bass Rocks on Gloucester's Back Shore where you can enjoy looking out at the scenic surf or join the myriad of plein air painters and set up an easel. It's about a mile to Niles Beach and 2 miles from the white sands and surf of Good Harbor Beach. The home is also about a mile to Rocky Neck, the oldest art colony in the U.S. and home to many galleries, shops and great restaurants.

Choose to relax on the multiple decks, or sit on the porch and enjoy the serenity of the grounds. Host some friendly games of tennis, basketball or street hockey on your own court or play games on the vast level lawn.

Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.


  • The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.

  • Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.

  • The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.

Family wedding getaway

We had 13 family members staying in the house ranging in ages 3-83. There was plenty of space for everyone to have their privacy & enough bathrooms for each family. It’s an older home with some needed TLC but overall was clean & comfortable. The trundle beds in the upstairs bedroom are definitely only meant for kids, & it would have been nice to have a 2 double beds in the bunk bed room.

Fantastic stay - Fantastic House

We have stayed here before ( last summer). Overall the house worked for our size group. The location is pretty good. The house is large and has a lot of rooms. The bathrooms need a little work. And A/C should absolutely be put in all bedrooms. Our week was atrociously hot, as was last year. Sleeping almost unbearable without AC. The AVH staff was awesome- quickly brought us towels that were missing and asked if we need aything else immediately after arrival.

Bell View review

House was perfect for our large family. The key was not in the lockbox when we arrived but we were able to find a back door that was left open and both keys were inside on the kitchen counter. This is how we left it as well. Upon leaving (quite honestly the last flush), the toilet in the downstairs powder room adjacent to the kitchen had a broken chain on flush handle. Just fyi. We had a wonderful experience and would love to return.

Wonderful house

We had three families staying here, in the middle of winter - everybody fit comfortably and the place was uniformly clean, warm, cozy and clean. We had a minor maintenance issue and the management took care of it immediately - like, within an hour. Excellent management & communication. The multiple living rooms provide great variety for mealtimes, morning coffee, board games, etc. We can't wait to come back in the summer!

Great House for a Big Family

Our children and grandchildren stayed in this house and had a wonderful time. It's a very nice house but child friendly, comfortable and fully equipped with all that it takes to keep kids (and adults) occupied. When not at the beach, a tennis court with basketball hoops, a horseshoe pit and a large yard for playing as well as a large indoor playroom with ping pong kept all the cousins and their parents busy. We highly recommend this property for families.

Great weekend in Gloucester

We stayed with friends and family at Belle View while we attended my daughter's wedding in Gloucester. The house was everything we had hoped for. Plenty of space for everyone, beautiful grounds, a great tennis court. We had a blast. There were only eight of us so we had plenty of room but the house would accommodate twice that many people. We had a mishap with a leaking washing machine the last night we were there. Fortunately, I was able to contact an AVH rep right away to report the problem. I felt better being able to contact someone and make sure that things were under control.

Cross Country to Bell View

We had a wonderful stay at Bell View. Wish we'd had more time to enjoy the house and beautiful surroundings. My old high school cross country team came out to run a relay race and this was our retreat afterwards. There was ample space and beds even for a big group like ours. The kitchen was well equipped and all the rooms were nicely decorated. It worked for us and I'd recommend this rental to anyone heading to Gloucester.

College Reunion

Bell View was the perfect location and set up for our yearly college reunion! The house was fully equipped both inside and out, something for everyone! There was plenty of room for the kids to have their space and for the adults as well. Loved the many outdoor seating areas, tennis court and large lawn. Lots of bunnies too! Overall very satisfied with our stay and with the amenities of the house. Several beaches were within walking distance which saved a lot on parking fees. Deep sea fishing, stand up paddling and hiking to Halibut Point were the highlights of the week!

Exceeded expectations!

We loved this big house which accommodated my married kids and the grandkids. So many rooms to spread out in. We could all gather in the living room or each find a quiet corner. We used the mother in law suite for the couple with the newborn. They had privacy and we had quiet.

Bell View redux

This was our second summer week in Bell View, and despite the weather (100 degree heat index in the beginning...and cold rain for the last couple of days), it was a marvelous experience. The property is ideal for a large (10) family gathering, with lots of room to spread out, a great yard, and a wonderful location. The Gloucester and Cape Ann area provides a wealth of activities that make this a perfect vacation destination. AVH provides outstanding support for the facility. We would certainly stay there again.

We all enjoyed the stay very well. The only negative was finding out on checkout morning that we were responsible for doing all the laundry. That was in the book, but should have been brought to our attention, not just left there to yield a higher cleaning fee. A trip to the laundromat saved the day (and us some money), but becasue it was an unexpected hitch, it marred an otherwise perfect stay.
We had the pleasure of reading your effusive and ecstatic review of your stay at Bell View which you wrote in the guest book. We are so gratified that you had a wonderful family reunion at Bell View. We do regret that your departure was marred by the laundry, and have revised our departure instructions asking that the guest only strip beds and pile laundry together for the cleaner. We do agree, that due to the size of the house laundry is a chore that should be handled by the cleaning crew. We appreciate your comments and your help in getting us to streamline our procedures at Bell View.

The Just Right Large Family Getaway

Had a delightful time. NE Massachusetts is a beautiful area, and has something for everyone... interesting villages, state parks, beaches, the Boston metro area, etc. Our large group of 13 plus two small children enjoyed each other’s company in the comfort of the living and dining areas, and had a great time biking, playing ping pong, and reading in the sun room, among a number of local activities. The bathrooms were sufficient for our needs and the sleeping arrangements worked out well. The house was tastefully furnished and the property spacious and private. We would welcome the opportunity to return. · Some maintenance issues- the dishwasher would not cycle through properly. If set on a normal wash and left alone, it would not advance. We returned several times after day’s outing to find it still running on the wash cycle. Would only advance by manually moving past the “light wash” setting. Also, the detergent at times did not dispense. · Toaster control would not allow darker toast- handle would not stay down, even on the left side for single toast. · Vanity light in 2nd floor hall bath not working · Exhaust fans in baths would be nice (musty odors at times in baths/ different parts of the house) · Some towels appeared clean, but were noticeably stained. · Needed better vacuuming – carpets and under furniture, mildew smell at times. · Tennis/ basketball court should be better maintained if being advertised as a feature.
Thank you for your kind and positive feedback. On the more "constructive" comments please know that the dishwasher has been fixed, that there is a toaster oven as well as a toaster, you must have missed the additional light switch for the vanity light. As far as the musty smell, we deduced that this came from the washer that needed service to have the filter cleaned. This has also been done and the mustiness is gone. We do hope that you will come back to Cape Ann in the future!

I really must stay the pictures of the house on the internet did not do it justice. It was a lovely place with lots of room for all of us. It was nice to be a little secluded and yet right near everything. Directions were good. We made it to Boston in about 50 mins. in the morning and its so close to all kinds of places like Salem, Rockport and Gloucester itself. Thanks for all you assistance.

Great House for Family Vacation

My family had a great time staying at Belle View. Everyone was happy with their rooms - they were clean and the beds very comfortable. The kitchen was a great gathering place and with 2 ovens and microwave it proved to be more than adequate in preparing our thanksgiving dinner. The entertainment area was a big hit with ping pong as was the basketball/tennis court. We all had a great time and would recommend it to anyone - this house is ideal for a family vacation.
