Granite Pier, with its unparalleled ocean views, is a traditional Cape Ann home with an unusual history. Built in the mid to late 1800’s, it was part of the Rockport Granite Company housing workmen who mined the nearby quarries. Blending traditional craftsmanship with modern amenities, this home is quintessential New England with ocean views from its multiple decks, from the primary bedroom and from the sun room. Multiple skylights and large windows let natural light flood in while mini split air conditioners keep the house cool. Granite Pier can be rented in conjunction with sister cottage Granite Cottage (next door) for larger groups.

Explore nearby Gull Cove, which is less than a five-minute walk from the home or travel to the end of the actual Granite Pier (for which the house is named), which affords 270-degree views of the great Atlantic and the Rockport coastline. Go there early in the morning to experience the sunrise over the water. There is a boat launch at the pier just 120 yards from the house, where you can bring your kayaks or stand up paddle boards and explore the area by water. (Kayaks and SUPs can be rented through Atlantic Vacation Homes).

Experience swimming in a freshwater quarry known as Little Parker Pit just up the road a piece (400 yards) and see how refreshing a dip in the quarry is on a hot summer day. Like hikes or running in the woods, then leave the house, walk under the Keystone Bridge made from Rockport granite and enter into the beautiful Dogtown wilderness. Have a boat? You'll find it easy to manage a trailer. Front Beach and Back Beach are also close by.

There is off-street parking for 4 cars.

What does my rented vacation home provide?


Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.


  • The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.

  • Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.

  • The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.

  • Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.

  • Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.

Guests will also receive a “Welcome Kit” that contains:


  • An area guide

  • One kitchen sponge

  • One small bottle of dish soap

  • One dishwasher detergent pod or packet

  • One laundry detergent pod or packet

  • One trash bag

In addition, the complimentary items below are provided as a convenient starter supply for when you first arrive. Additional items beyond the starter supply are the responsibility of the guest.

Lovely well located home, with a variety of outdoor spaces for our family of 7 to spread out! Super kitchen for group cooking and great stargazing from the roof deck. Beds were super comfy and showers were great. Would gladly stay here again.

Absolutely Gorgeous and Serene

Upon arrival of the cottage. I didn’t need to leave my car. The location was breathtaking. On a hill overlooking the ocean and a Quarry. Inside was beyond my expectations. A beautifully laid out sprawling cottage. Each room different and unique and exquisitely furnished. It took me 2 days to leave the cottage as I enjoyed it so much. Location was perfect. Rock port and Gloucester is where I frequented. So easy to get around. I had a blast for myself. The Italian Festival happen to be going on. Went to that. Blend a bar /restaurant on commercial St. I believe. Had one of the best live bands playing. Such an enjoyable night. Met so many great people. Management!! The absolute best! Took care of my needs without question. I have to rate this beautiful cottage not 5 but 10 stars. I would love if management would let me stay there again!!!!

Loved Rockport

First time to the area. The house is well located. Not in the center of town but only a 15-20 minute walk to the small beaches in town along with all the shops, galleries and restaurants. Great view of the water. The house is as described and very nice. We had a couple of minor issues and the management company was very responsive. Overall, we recommend visiting the area and staying at Granite Pier.

Overall a Great Stay

This was our second two week vacation at Granite Pier. We love the location and the home is lovely with enough room to share with several friends and family. Everything was clean and the staff was responsive. Our coffee maker was replaced quickly once we reported a problem with it, and an effort was made to resolve the wi-fi problem. There were several maintenance issues which detracted from our full enjoyment of the vacation.

Great Stay - Property and AVH

We were a family of six adults and had an outstanding time at Granite Pier. Description is spot on. COVID added unique challenges and AVH could not have been more flexible or responsive. This property is ideally situated with a water view, excellent kitchen, great multi-level layout, and walking distance to town and quarries. Shout out to Jonathan for his work with us. Highly recommend the property and AVH.

Wonderful home by the sea

We booked this rental before we knew we would face restrictions because of COVID-19. We were so glad we did! Getting away to the coast without having to leave the Commonwealth was just what we needed. Everything was very comfortable. Especially loved being able to eat on the shaded outdoor deck/patio.

Beautiful, engaging, well appointed home

My children and grandchildren inhabited this space comfortably. All the amenities were there. The kitchen is lovely. My only complaint was that the dishes all had to be washed before use. I guess the dishwasher doesn't work too well.

Amazing Stay!

The house and the location are amazing! The house was very clean, slept many and the kitchen was fully stocked with all our cooking needs. The outdoor patios were a great addition and we tried to spent more time outside than in. The house is an easy 15 minute walk to downtown Rockport and multiple beaches. We came, we relaxed and we ate lobster. We had a fantastic time and would absolutely recommend this home to other families!

Fourth of July stay

We stayed at this property 5 days during the fourth of July long weekend- and everything was perfect! We loved the home- which had everything we needed and was beautifully decorated. Prior to our arrival, we communicated a couple times with AVH, and the staff there were always very helpful with information about this specific property as well as local knowledge of the area. Our stay was more than comfortable, with great views and great location. Downtown was only a quick 20 min walk, and the fourth of July Rockport bonfire was just around the corner. The property is easily accessible (right off of 127) and the driveway easily fit our 2 suv's. We had the most wonderful family vacation- thank you AVH!
