A beautiful half-mile stretch of sandy coastline, Singing Beach in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA is one of the top beaches in New England. Singing Beach gets its name from the squeaky “singing” sounds emitted from the sands as it is walked upon, a rare phenomenon that has helped make Singing Beach an internationally known destination. The sand’s sonic quality is far from the only reason that Singing Beach is as popular today as it is, as the beach contains a much larger sandy area than most North Shore beaches, which are traditionally rocky.
Singing Beach is located only half of a mile from Manchester-by-the-Sea’s train station, which services all locations between Boston and Rockport. One can easily spend all morning at the beach, get on the train, and be in Boston in time for a late lunch, a museum trip or a Red Sox game.
