Are you a fan of the reality TV show Wicked Tuna on the National Geographic channel? If so, then you may know that the show follows fishermen who are based out of Gloucester, MA and compete to see which boat can bring in the most tuna and the highest payday. The show has helped put Gloucester into an international spotlight while also bringing new awareness and recognition to our local commercial fishing industry.
About the Wicked Tuna Show
Wicked Tuna follows six captains and their crews as they head out into the North Atlantic Waters on their hunt for bluefin tuna. The goals of bringing in the biggest catches and becoming the top-earning boat (not to mention the glory and the bragging rights) are what drive the action of the show. The episode aired in April 2012 and the show is currently in its eighth season. The Season 7 finale was also the show’s 100th episode, which was cause for much celebration around Gloucester. You can follow along their journey on Sunday nights at 9:00 pm EST on the National Geographic Channel and if you’re hungry for more, check out these recent articles and interviews:

Where Can You See Wicked Tuna Boats?
The bluefin tuna fishing season runs roughly between June and November, but visitors can come to Gloucester year round to see the boats in port. The Cape Ann Marina is home to some of the Wicked Tuna boats, captains and crews, and is a great place to get a glimpse of captains or crew. (Local insider tip: some of the Captains also offer fishing charters). The Cape Ann Marina offers Wicked Tuna merchandise for sale, as does Seaside Graphics in Gloucester.
