Ships Bell House is located on a quiet neighborhood lane, its manicured gardens and a spacious lawn adding to the tranquility. Relax in air conditioned comfort inside the bright, open-plan space that is decorated in a cheerful beach-centric style with local flair. There are two bedrooms and a full bath on the main floor, as well as a Queen suite with a full bath on the lower level.

In the garden, enjoy a nap in the hammock or cookout on the grill. After your swim at Plum Cove Beach or Lanes Cove, rinse off at Ships Bell's outdoor shower.

When you want to explore, head to nearby Plum Cove Beach, downtown Gloucester or nearby Rockport. Lanesville's shops are just a stroll away. The amazing Halibut State Park is also close by and Boston and Salem are less than an hour by train or car.

This property is waterview only; note that there is no water access from the street.

What does my rented vacation home provide?


Since all Atlantic Vacation Homes rental properties are residential homes, and not hotel rooms, they are all fully furnished and include a living room, kitchen, and bedrooms and bathrooms as described on each property detail page.


  • The kitchen includes cooking utensils, pots & pans, dishcloths, potholders, flatware, dishware, glassware and a corkscrew. Standard appliances include a refrigerator, microwave, stove, toaster, and coffee maker. Some properties are equipped with additional items; please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property. If you require specialty items, such as kitchen scales or food processors, it is best to bring your own.

  • Bed linens and bath linens (bath towels, hand towels and face cloths) are provided in accordance with the advertised occupancy of the property. Beds will be made with linens, pillows, blankets, and bedspreads prior to your arrival, with the exception of trundles, top bunks, futons, and sleep sofas.

  • The property includes basic housekeeping supplies, such as brooms and dustpans.

  • Many (but not all) properties have a landline for local calls. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property.

  • Air conditioning, beach towels, hot tubs, TVs, DVD players, porch furniture, grills, docks, recreational games and equipment, and other amenities are furnished as a courtesy by the homeowner and are not guaranteed. Please refer to the full amenity list for your specific property for details.

Guests will also receive a “Welcome Kit” that contains:


  • An area guide

  • One kitchen sponge

  • One small bottle of dish soap

  • One dishwasher detergent pod or packet

  • One laundry detergent pod or packet

  • One trash bag

In addition, the complimentary items below are provided as a convenient starter supply for when you first arrive. Additional items beyond the starter supply are the responsibility of the guest.

Beautiful home - great experience

Great house, gorgeous sunsets!

We recently spent ten days at Ships Bell; a three generation group of six. The living room area is comfortable, and the kitchen extremely well equipped. We loved looking at the abundance of really interesting and cool artwork in the home, not to mention the ocean views and sunsets. The deck is huge! The only problem was the AC; it is unbalanced. It was quite cold in the downstairs when it was an appropriate temperature on the main level. Other than this, it was perfect!

Great house

Stayed at Ships Bell House and it was wonderful. House had everything we needed and then some. Beautiful views of bay from deck and living room. Well manicured property and lovely neighborhood. Plum Cove Beach just a few minutes away but Singing Beach and Wingsaersheek Beaches our favs.

Seasonal Rental

My husband and I sold our home and needed a winter rental until our summer home in Maine was renovated. We contacted AVH on a referral from a friend who had used them previously. A delightful house

I spent a weekend at Ships Bell House with two friends. The house is extremely comfortable, well equipped and attractive; it feels like a home rather than a rental property. The deck is spacious and has a lovely view; the living room is an easy, comfortable gathering place; the kitchen offers everything you'll need and works well for more than one person at a time; the beds are very comfortable. An easy walk to a cafe in one direction and the quarry/water's edge in another direction.

Vacation fun @ Ships Bell House

We stayed for a weeks vacation with our oldest son, daughter in law and 2 grandsons and had a wonderful stay.The location on a dead end street in a quiet neighborhood was ideal for a family vacation. There were beaches nearby, the ocean just down the street with tide pools, fishing, and a rocky coast for exploration. Gloucester was a short drive away with many restaurants, shops and places to explore. The renters live next door and were awesome.
