Built in 1926 in Essex, Mass, the Schooner Adventure was designed as a “knockabout” without a bowsprit for the safety of the crew. Her rich history includes fishing in the Grand Banks of the North Atlantic, converted to a windjammer for passenger cruising, and now is a maritime treasure as a National Historic Landmark. Since 2008, Essex County Greenbelt has focused on Osprey conversation, and the Greenbelt’s Osprey Cam is located on one of its salt marshes in Gloucester.
