Halibut Point State Park

Located close to the Rockport-Gloucester line in Rockport, Halibut Point State Park is one of Massachusetts’ most beautiful, scenic areas. The park features gorgeous views of coastal New England, ranging from nearby Crane Beach in Ipswich to far-off locations such as New Hampshire’s Isles of Shoals and Maine’s Mount Agamenticus. For those looking to learn more about the park, Halibut Point offers tours of the quarry, including a granite cutting demonstration, every Saturday between Memorial Day and Columbus Day. The park additionally offers other programs that spotlight the park’s natural history, including wildflower walks and tidepool programs during the summer, and seabird walks during the winter.

If you want to explore and learn about the park on your own or off-season, the Visitor Center offers assisted-listening devices for park tours. Halibut Point makes for a wonderful addition to your vacation’s itinerary, and is the perfect spot for everything from a family picnic to an intimate nature walk. Managed by the Trustees of Reservations, Halibut Point State Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset year-round, and features a public parking lot offering all day parking for $5 (MA residents) or $10 (non-residents).
