This newly renovated and updated waterfront gem has four bedrooms and 1.5 baths, a deepwater dock(accommodates up to a 20 foot boat) and a wrap around screened porch where one can sit and watch the glimmering water, wildlife and passing boats go by on the tidal Annisquam River. At high tide swim from the dock or the shore directly in front of the house and at low tide there is great swimming from the sand bar. The sunny modern eat-in kitchen has gas cooking, a dishwasher and full size washer/drier with a half bath. The dining room seats 8 and is open onto the living area which has a huge new sectional and 50 inch flat screen TV complete with a high end sound system and DVD. The screen porch is pure heaven for sitting during the day, or for those who wish, sleeping on those warm summer nights. Upstairs are 4 bedrooms (two with views of the water) with new linens and decor and a completely renovated custom tiled full bathroom with tub and shower. The owner is adding air conditioning units in almost every room of the house this summer. Outside there is are lovely newly landscaped front and back yards and plenty of parking as well as an outdoor hot and cold water shower. This is the waterfront vacation you have been dreaming of!

We weren't sure what to expect, renting a place site unseen. But it was better than we could have hoped for. An amazingly well-equipped kitchen; cozy bedrooms; a closet full of board games; and oh, the view. We basically spent the week gazing at the water, the wildlife, the breathtaking sunsets. My parents, who were visiting from England, proclaimed it the best vacation ever. For us, it was a chance to wind down, relax, and live in the moment.

The only caveats – the house has no insulation, so mornings can be cold. And bug spray is recommended.

Wonderful antique cottage with all the comforts and amenities of home. The porches were a delight where we spent most of our time enjoying the ever changing views and sounds of the river. The range of pictures on the website accurately illustrate the property. Very nice property manager. We didn't want to leave and will be back!

Sorry you didn't get my answer to your inquiry. The O'Briens were very happy with our rental and very happy with the good service we received from AVR in Gloucester as well as from the rental owner. We were involved with hurricane Irene with changed our

The house is up to date, with a new, beautiful kitchen. The grounds are well maintained and beautiful. A great place for a family with kids. Lots of water stuff to do. A canoe or other small boat comes in handy for getting to the sand bar on the other of the Annisquam.

We returned from a fantastic stay at Buoy23. The location is perfect if you want to spend a lot of time on the water as it's close to the beaches and Gloucester harbor.
The spent a lot of time sitting on the porch watching the boats go by while eating breakfast and dinner. Every other minute was spent in the the beach, cruising down the river..sightseeing along Ipswich Bay.

The house was very comfortable, in a beautiful location. It was clean and very well decorated. It also had a lot of kitchen equipment and a great BBQ. The TV was large and there were games to play.The house was also very centrally located to town, beaches, stores , restaurants and the highway.Watching the boats come and go was a great past time.

The house is well-maintained and very comfortable. It is off the beaten path, but close enough so that a trip to the beach, grocery store or golf course were only a few minutes away. There is no detail that has been overlooked in equipping the family room and kitchen…we enjoyed many wonderful meals together watching the sun set over the river. The weather was beautiful and the views from the wrap around screened porches, garden and dock were amazing. Be ready to wind down and relax, it is very quiet and peaceful. Only one minor issue because we spent the vast majority of our time outside or on the porches, but a few hot days when the river breeze stopped and temps hit the 90’s made the downstairs living area and kitchen unbearable.

  Thanks for the review of Buoy 23 which is a lovely cottage on the river. I'm not sure if anyone or anywhere was cool during those hot days at the end of June, but I did notice that the homowner has fans, an AC unit, and ceiling fans. We always appreciate the feed back and will let the homowner know. Please keep us in mind for next summer!

Having only 1 shower(outdoor shower has no door,no privacy, not usable!) was a bit of an issue.
The place needs some updating!
The location was great!
Being able to bring our dog was best for us.

  Buoy 23 is one of those cottages that is not winterized and so it retains its original floor plan and amenities. The owner puts alot into upkeep and enjoys sharing his family summer home with our renters. The house was wonderful, very comfortable, great amenities, really a fully stocked kitchen (funky dishwasher!)and a lot of fun for the kids. One minor gripe: it wasn't clear that the downstairs didn't have air conditioning, and that one over-90 degree day was a killer. There are two window units upstairs, and with creative use of the fans provided, it was cool and conmfortable. The decor is understated, with a nautical theme, and it was very cool to sit in one of the screened porches and watch all the boats go by. Our toddler loved to go back and forth, back and forth, back and forth through the porches too. The beds upstairs are twins and fulls, so there's not a lot of room for two people to spread out, but still fine for a good night's sleep. Kudos to the Kingsleys for keeping this place pretty much the way it's been for 80 years, in a good way. Thanks!
