Bring your boat (or use the kayak provided) or swim from this sweet little cottage that makes you feel as if you are floating in a well fitted vessel, not only because of the view, but also the ingenious use of space, with many built-ins and the overall innovative and comfortable decor. An old fisherman's cottage on Walker Creek, the cottage now boasts a tidal dock (7 feet deep at high tide, dry at low), 3 bedrooms to comfortably sleep 4, a full kitchen, and a screen porch with views as well as the use of a 2 person kayak. The house is in a rural setting, so don't be surprised if you hear the crow and cluck of the chickens from a neighboring property.

We loved the view, the privacy, even the rooster calls! The neighbors were helpful and even brought us fresh eggs and tomatoes. The Hideout was perfect for us, it has some quirks (curtains separate the bedrooms, 1 very small...) but that is what made it
right for us. Take advantage of the Kayak! We brought binoculars, the birds are magnificant. We did not want to leave.

My family loved this wonderful cottage near the ocean; very cozy and efficient. We enjoyed the peace and quiet (singing lobster notwithstanding!), swimming in the river, kayaking, the view of the sunset and the birds. There are lots of things to do around: beaches (Crane Beach was our favorite), nice little towns, museums, parks, Crane Estate, orchard, etc.
It was terrific.

The location is great (especially if you enjoy kayaking) and the view is very pretty but there are lots of mosquitoes and you'll wake up to the sounds of the chickens roaming freely on the grounds. It should be clear to anyone renting this property that this is more or less a "cabin". The shower could definitely be improved. All food should be stored in the plastic bins which are provided since there are small four-legged animals living in the walls/ceiling. Also, note that the master bedroom does not offer any privacy as it has no doors (only curtains) and another curtained opening into one of the other bedrooms. Nonetheless, the property has lots of "rustic charm" but I would only recommend it to someone who has a good sense of humour/adventure and doesn't mind the fact that everything is a bit eclectic and crooked.

I can't say enough about the location of the cabin. It was great. The view was awesome, and we kayaked several times from the property.

The cabin is just that. A cabin. Bare basics. While it was clean, it's a little worn down, there was a smell that was bad enough to make us get air freshners, but from reading other comments, I expected. A little fixing up of the place would be a benefit, and some new pots and pans (the pasta pot was rusted).

If you don't mind rustic, and can over look bugs and the sounds in the walls, I highly recommend this place for it's location and kayaking opportunities.

The Hideout is a "camp" in the old-fashioned sense of the word, but you can't beat the views and being able to kayak right outside your door. Thanks and come back and see us next year, we have many properties in inventory and can accomodate your needs.

We stayed at the hideout for a week. The description on the internet was accurate - the hideout was a very simple property and was basic. It had the amenities expected. A few of the fly screens were coming loose but other than that the house was in satisfactory condition. The location of the property was excellent and we spent a very pleasant week - making use of the Kayak to paddle down the river. We only spoke to the Atlantic Vacation staff by phone. They were always polite and helpful. There was one issue that caused a problem. The telephone number given for the propery was wrong. We received a number of calls obviously intended for someone else. My son tried to call a few times but ending up contacting someone else. Obviously this mistake should not have happened and did cause some inconvenience.
